Who we are
Young Muslims Sisters of Rhode Island (YMS Rhody) is a local NeighborNet of Young Muslims National (the youth division ICNA) and seeks to work with the young sisters in Rhode Island to help them become more well-rounded and productive members of society. We cater our programs and events towards high school and college students, although middle school students are welcome as well.
YMSRI hosts a variety of events and activities including, but not limited to, weekly halaqas, luncheons, workshops, social outings, interfaith dialogue, eid celebrations, volunteering, and seminar/lecture trips. |
Meet our shura
Afia Islam
Afia is currently a student at Rhode Island College majoring in Computer Science. She's our tech guru and is the go-to person when we're having technical difficulties. She is also deeply in love with her cat, Sero, named after the chemical serotonin. Now, we all know what you're thinking, and the answer is yes. Yes, she is a cat lady. |
Addiqa Saleem
Remember how Aminah was youngest but most mature? Well, Addiqa is the complete opposite. The oldest in age, but the youngest at heart, Addiqa is the life of the party. She's wild, daring, and sometimes makes us question her sanity, but she's also eager to learn, and you can find her in the front row at any class or seminar. Addiqa is also an artist and an aspiring pharmacist. |
Azka Siddiqui
Azka recently graduated from college with a double major in Marketing and Psychology. She is passionate about youth leadership and likes to stay involved in community activities. This might make you think that she's an energetic person, but her favorite place in the entire world is her bed. Add in a little Netflix and her craft materials, and you might not see her out for days. |
